Police release name of victim killed in Saturday night shooting near 44th & Q

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Lubbock police have now released the name of the victim who died after a shooting that happened Saturday night in the 4400 block of Avenue Q.

Lubbock police say they got a report of a victim with serious injuries around 8 p.m. They arrived on scene to find 34-year-old Jose Gonzalez with multiple gunshot wounds.

Gonzalez was taken to UMC with serious injuries and died at the hospital.

Police say Gonzalez was leaving a motel in a vehicle when suspects fired shots, striking him, and fled on foot. Gonzalez exited the vehicle and walked into a room at the motel where he was located by officers.

Police say this appears to be an isolated event, and there is no immediate threat to the public. No arrests have been made as of Sunday night.
