One man dead after getting hit by semitruck on I-10 west at Vinton

EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14) — El Paso Police responded to a person being hit by a semi-truck Saturday night at Interstate-10 West near the Vinton exit.

The person who was hit by the semi, 39-year-old Michael Prendergast, died at the scene according to El Paso Police.

Prendergast was operating a pickup truck eastbound on I-10 when he pulled over, according to police.

Predergast then crossed into the westbound lanes in front of the semi-truck, but the truck driver was not able to stop on time, El Paso Police said in a press release.

The incident happened at Mile Marker 5 on I-10 West at 8 p.m. Saturday.

EPPD's Special Traffic Investigations unit continues to investigate the case.
