Man dies after head-on collision near Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (KTTC) –Saturday, a man died following a two-vehicle collision near mile marker 193 on I-35.

Clear Lake Police identified the driver of the car as 56-year-old Glen Hemming of Mason City. Reports show Hemming was driving the wrong way on I-35 south when he collided head-on with a semi traveling south. He later succumbed to his injuries.

The crash, which happened just before 11:30p.m. on Saturday night, prompted authorities to close the southbound lanes of I-35 for four hours.

CLPD said the driver of the semi was uninjured. Authorities are still investigating the crash.
