KASSON, Minn. – A $21,420 grant is going to Kasson-Mantorville High School to establish a state-of-the-art CNA/Health Sciences lab that will enhance career readiness opportunities for students.

“We are grateful to have received this grant funding to increase career readiness opportunities for our KoMet students at Kasson-Mantorville High School,” says Ashley Kaplan, Director of Student and Staff Support Systems at Kasson-Mantorville Schools and author of the grant.  “Students that take this course will be able to gain employment during their high school career in a position that pays $20 an hour. The course will also allow students to earn three credits that they can transfer to a state nursing program.”

The money is coming from The Minnesota Service Cooperative CTE Team & The FutureForward™ Impact Grant Review Committee.

Kasson-Mantorville Schools and Triton Public Schools are partnering with the goal of creating a classroom space to serve as a Health Science Lab at Kasson-Mantorville High School.  Following the Minnesota Department of Health guidelines, equipment will be purchased to use in an existing classroom for Nurse Aid Training.

The lab would be outfitted during the 24-25 school year, with students enrolling in the Nursing Assistant/CNA course in early 2025 so that they may take the course beginning in the 25-26 school year.  Students from both Kasson-Mantorville High School and Triton Public schools may enroll in the course.  The district is partnering with Minnesota State College Southeast so that students will earn college credit.
