KASSON, Minn. (KTTC) – The Kasson-Mantorville High School (KMHS) received a $21,420 grant from The Minnesota Service Cooperative CTE Team & The FutureForward™ Impact Grant Review Committee.

Kasson-Mantorville Schools (KMS) and Triton Public Schools (TPS) will partner to create a classroom space at KMHS to serve as the state-of-the-art CNA/Health Sciences lab, enhancing students’ career readiness opportunities. The district is also partnering with Minnesota State College Southeast so students can earn college credit.

“We are grateful to have received this grant funding to increase career readiness opportunities for our KoMet students at Kasson-Mantorville High School,” said Ashley Kaplan, Director of Student and Staff Support Systems at Kasson-Mantorville Schools and author of the grant. “Students that take this course will be able to gain employment during their high school career in a position that pays $20 an hour. The course will also allow students to earn three credits that they can transfer to a state nursing program.”

Following the Minnesota Department of Health guidelines, equipment will be purchased to be used in an existing classroom for Nurse Aid training, and the lab will be outfitted during the 24-25 school year. Students from KMS and TPS can expect to enroll in the Nursing Assistant/CNA course in early 2025, so they may take the course beginning in the 25-26 school year.
