HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii Sea Grant released a tsunami preparedness video to educate residents and business owners about what to do in an emergency.

The film covers tsunami zones communication methods and evacuation plans.

The UH program created and distributed the video in collaboration with FEMA, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, and the DOE.

“This video was really created to try and reach the unreceptive people, the ones that don’t go to seminars or workshops or emerged fairs, and it was really to try and employ a top-down strategy as well as a bottom-up strategy in trying to reach everyone in the community,” Hawaii Sea Grant’s Dennis Hwang.

“It’s primarily geared for tsunamis but if you watch it, it’ll also help you prepare not completely but help you prepare for a hurricane or a wildfire also are other natural hazards.”
