Every year, the U.S. celebrates Black History Month, also known as African American History Month, during the month of February. It's a chance to honor the achievements and accomplishments of Black Americans throughout history as well as to reflect on how American history has long overlooked many of these contributions. With many Black History Month events taking the virtual route this year, the good news is that it's even easier to attend events that might not be in your zip code. Whether you're looking to educate yourself about Black culture in America or want to further amplify the conversation and share your own personal experiences, we've rounded up a variety of virtual events that you can enjoy from the comfort of your home.

Black History Family Game Night
When: Sundays at 7 p.m. EST
Price: $30
Every Sunday night, you and your family can play trivia games focused on Black History. Hosted by Melaneyes Media, an independent film company in San Antonio TX that produces knowledge-based black films and videos, this virtual event will focus on a different part of Black history each week. Prizes will be awarded!
Black-Owned Small Business Workshop

Are you a Black small business owner? During this fireside chat organized by the NEW Women's Business Center, business and finance experts will discuss resources to grow your business.
BAD Guild's Obsidian Concept House

Looking for an experience that combines Black history with contemporary design and immersive technology? Look no further than the Obsidian Concept House, a virtual showcase put on by the Black Artist + Designers Guild. You can tour the house—designed by 25 creatives—all month, and check in daily for talks with the creators. The programming is free, but consider making a Sam's Club Virtual Storytime

Michaels Stores Black History Month Art Classes
When: February 8 and 15 at 2 p.m. EST
In honor of Black History Month, Michael Stores is hosting two special events. On February 8, the retailer is offering a DIY No Sew Pouch Class hosted by crafter This Is Tisa. Later on in the month on February 15, influencer Vera Ahiyya will lead a portrait painting class dubbed I Love the Skin I'm In that teaches kids basic paint colors to help guide conversation about race and skin color.
Black History Month Community Yoga
When: Monday through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. CST
Price: Free
If you're used to taking yoga classes over Zoom, then this event will be right up your alley. Open to the BIPOC community, each class will be themed around what Black History Month means to the instructor, through the lens of their practice.
Black History Untold: Love Screening
When: February 13 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m EST
Price: $0 - $25
Celebrate Black History Month and Valentine’s Day with this new documentary Black History Untold: Love, which spotlights Black couples and their love stories. #AerieREAL Changemaker Sofiya Ballin, who created the documentary, will join moderator Nia Groce, sr. copywriter at Aerie, for a live Q&A session following the screening. 100% of all ticket sales will go to The Colored Girls Museum in Philadelphia.
HerStory: A Celebration of Black Female Artists
When: February 11 from 7 p.m to 8 p.m EST

This hour-long seminar led by artist Jahné Brown will celebrate the works of black women across all design categories. While it is open to all art enthusiasts, black women and women-identifying creatives are encouraged to share their thoughts about the current placement and status of black women in today's society.

Any Jeopardy fans? Now's the chance for you to test your knowledge in this event hosted by 1 Resource Service. The game will explore Black history and pop culture facts presented in a Jeopardy-style format.
Drunk Black History
When: February 26 from 9 p.m to 11 p.m. EST

During Drunk Black History, comedians and hosts Brandon Collins and Gordon Baker-Bone will celebrate prominent Black historical figures while a little boozed up (yes, really!). The interactive comedy show will feature guests who will share their drunken anecdotes of their favorite Black innovators. As the show's description reads, it is "destined to be educational and absolutely f'ing crazy!" You can watch last year's event down below.
Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon: Black History Month Edition
When: February 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST
Price: Free
The Smithsonian Art Museum will host its very own Wikipedia edit-a-thon focused on Black history. During this event, participants will learn how to edit and create new Wikipedia articles showcasing the breadth and depth of artwork and lives of Black artists in America.
The 2021 Virginia Black History Month (Virtual) Gala
When: February 27 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m EST

The Virginia Black History Month Association is hosting a gala and you and your family are invited! Throw on your formal attire, order dinner in, and connect with thousands of other African American families from all across the country. The event will feature guest speakers as well as other live entertainment.
