Windsor Woman Arrested In Connection With Retail Theft Crime Ring

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 20-year-old Windsor, CT woman has been arrested on a warrant by New Canaan police in connection with a series of October grab-and-run thefts from the New Canaan Ralph Lauren store on Elm Street, according to authorities.

Aysia D. Ryan, who had been developed as a suspect following the October incidents, was taken into custody by Connecticut State Police on Dec. 11 after she had led Massachusetts State Police on a chase following an attempted retail theft in Auburn, MA, said New Canaan police in a statement.

She was transported back to New Canaan on Dec. 12 from Connecticut State Police Troop C in Tolland and was charged with the following:

  • Third-degree larceny (2 counts)
  • Conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny (2 counts)

Ryan is one of several suspects in connection with the New Canaan thefts, which occurred on Oct. 3, 4 and 7. She and the other suspects also are accused of an attempted theft from the same story on Oct. 15, which resulted in a crash with a New Canaan police cruiser during their getaway.

In all, Ryan and her associates are accused of operating an "organized retail theft crime ring" that stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from multiple stores spread out over six states, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine, according to New Canaan Police Lt. Jason Ferraro.

" It is estimated that the total value of items stolen by Ryan, [suspect Jahliil] Parrott and other members of this Organized Retail Theft Crime Ring is nearly $90,000 (from a number of retail establishments in the six listed states)," Ferraro said. "In addition multiple agencies in the impacted states have pending arrest warrants for members of this ORT Crime Ring."

New Canaan police have obtained a warrant for Parrott's arrest; currently he is incarcerated in Nassau County, NY jail, and he is expected to be charged in the future in connection with the case.

Police also have identified another female suspect in connection with the New Canaan case and plan to charge her in the future.

Ryan was held in lieu of bail of $25,000 and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Dec. 26.
