WEBVTT NEIGHBORS WHO DESCRIBED THIS AS A HARROWING SCENE. >> FIREFIGHTERS SAY THIS FIRE WAS SO INTENSE THEY WERE UNABLE TO GET INSIDE. CHEYENNE POWELL TOOK THIS PHOTO FROM HER HOME, ABOUT A QUARTER MILE AWAY. >> I COULD HEAR NOISES AND LIKE SCREAMS AND BANGS AND I WASN’T SURE WHAT IT WAS. I CAME OUT AND LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND COULD SEE HUGE FIRE. >> THIS WAS AROUND 1:30 THIS MORNING. POWELL WOKE UP HER PARENTS WHO CALLED 911. IT WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED. I CALLED 911 AND TOLD THEM THAT THE NEIGHBOR’S HOUSE WAS ON FIRE AND THEY SAID THERE WOULD BE MULTIPLE FIRE TRUCKS ON THE WAY. >> SIX DEPARTMENTS RUSHED TO THE SCENE, LINING THE STREET. FIREFIGHTERS SAID ONE PERSON WAS OUTSIDE THE HOME WHEN THEY GOT THERE, BUT A MAN ASLEEP ON THE TOP FLOOR WAS TRAPPED. FROM HUNDREDS OF FEET AWAY, THE POWELL’S HEARD THE SCREAMS FOR HELP. >> YOU COULD TELL THE PEOPLE WERE VERY OBVIOUSLY IN PERIL AND TERRIFIED. >> THE FIRE, TOO DANGEROUS, AND FIREFIGHTERS COULDN’T RUSH INSIDE. >> FULLY INVOLVED. EVERY LEVEL OF THE STRUCTURE. OUT OF EVERY OPENING WE HAD FIRE. WE HAD A PARTIAL ROOF COLLAPSE AND SECOND STORY COLLAPSE ON THE BUILDING UPON OUR ARRIVAL. >> YOU CAN NOW SEE WHAT’S LEFT STANDING OF THE CHARRED HOME. THE VICTIM, A MAN IN HIS 50‘S, DIED AT THE SCENE. FIREFIGHTERS SAY THE HOME DIDN’T HAVE WORKING SMOKE DETECTORS. NEIGHBORS TELL ME THE ENTIRE SITUATION WAS VERY SCARY, AND THEY’RE SADDENED THAT THEIR NEIGHBOR DIDN’T MAKE IT OUT.
