Billie Eilish Thinks People Will Take Normal Life for Granted Again Post–Social Distancing

But she also hopes we ultimately don't.

Right now, Billie Eilish is keeping herself busy while staying at home, just like the rest of us. While the Grammy winner is making sure she's taking every measure to stay safe and healthy, she recently opened up in a video call interview about one relatable concern she has about when we begin to relax the rules around social distancing and sheltering in place.

"Here's the thing: If I'm being real, I feel like as soon as we can see people again and go out, we're going to be so happy and grateful, and in about three days, we're all going to take it for granted again," Billie tells Telekom Electric Beats (via British Vogue), continuing, "Because that's the way people work.... It's the way humans are made. You miss something so bad once you don't have it, you never think about it when you have it, and when it's gone, it's like, 'Oh, my God.' Then when it comes back, [you] fall right back into that place of 'I'll have this for the rest of my life;, I don't have to worry about it being gone.'"

Billie added, "But it's crazy.... Everybody knows that you can lose anything at any time, but we never thought we would lose seeing our friends and going out and having fun. So hopefully people keep it in their minds." She went on to explain how she will try to approach returning to the flow of life before people took measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and COVID-19: "I'm going to try my hardest. I don’t know if I'll be able to because obviously I'm human like everybody else, but I'll try my hardest to be so grateful to be around people and socializing again. But it's crazy — I hope we all just take it in more."

The singer also revealed in her video interview with Telekom Electronic that she's been fostering puppies while at home, describing the experience as "amazing" and sharing that their names are Jem and Miss Maudie, just like the characters from the classic book To Kill a Mockingbird. Billie added that for the time being, she's just trying to live in the moment.

Luckily, Billie is finding ways to stay connected with fans during this time by participating in live performances via video chat. Last week, Billie and her brother, Finneas, performed an acoustic, stripped-down version of "Bad Guy" as part of the iHeartRadio Living Room Concert for America. And if you missed out that or you simply need more Eilish in your life, she'll soon be performing alongside Lady Gaga, Lizzo, and numerous other artists for the televised One World: Together at Home concert produced by Global Citizen on Saturday, April 18. Even if we're all physically distant right now, Billie included, it's comforting to know she and others are working overtime to help us feel connected.
