Man In Wheelchair Killed Crossing South Missouri Avenue

CLEARWATER, FL — A 54-year-old man in a wheelchair has died after being struck by a Honda pickup truck while crossing South Missouri Avenue.

Around 12:30 a.m. Friday, Franklin Rowland was crossing in the 1300 block of South Missouri Avenue just south of Lakeview Drive in his wheelchair when he was struck. He was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he died.

Clearwater police Rowland was not in a crosswalk at the time he was hit. The driver of the pickup truck, Cesar Salvador, 23, of Clearwater remained at the scene.
