GLEN COVE, NY — Children in Glen Cove and across America poured back into classrooms for the first day of school this week. Bright yellow buses filled with backpack-toting students lined up at schools in Glen Cove City Schools on Tuesday, and parents were eager to snap a photo or two of the occasion.

At Deasy School, students enjoyed reading, writing, painting and more as they got to know their new classmates. Gribbin School teachers enthusiastically greeted their students, and once the classes were settled, the students listened to stories, completed interesting activities and learned about their new friends, the district said in a news release.
