Over the past week, 6,841 new cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Colorado, according to public health data. Around 33 percent of the state's critical care ventilators were in use as of Sunday.

"We've gotta get this number down, and if we continue this trend, our hospitals will be in jeopardy," Gov. Jared Polis said during a news conference Tuesday.

"We have to be able to get this under control by Thanksgiving and the holiday season."
