JOHNSONBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — State police say they’ve ruled the fire at the old Johnsonburg Hotel as arson and they have a man in custody.
Crews responded to a massive blaze Wednesday afternoon at the hotel located along East Center Street in Johnsonburg, Elk County.
A state police fire marshal and the Johnsonburg Fire Department conducted an investigation.
They say the building had been abandoned for a number of years and was recently purchased by Dream Investments LLC of Force, Pennsylvania.
Troopers say did not identify the suspect they have in custody, but they say the 30-year-old did enter the abandoned hotel and set the fire.
They’re asking anyone with information to contact Johnsonburg police or state police in Ridgway at 814-776-6136.
This is not the first fire at the old hotel, and previous fires have been investigated as arson.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
