The annual Buskerfest street performers’ festival is returning to Denver’s Union Station this year after being forced to cancel in 2020 because of COVID-19.

From Sept. 10-12, the Wynkoop Plaza in front of Union Station will be transformed into a public theater and art space, with touring street performers from around the world coming to share their acts.

More than 50 shows will be performed on three outdoor stages, with performances including stilt walkers, living statues, break dancers, jugglers, comedians, circus performers, musicians and more.

“We can't wait to welcome people back to downtown,” said festival directors Maya and Brent McCoy. “The 2021 Union Station Buskerfest will go a long way towards supporting artists and downtown businesses hit especially hard by the pandemic.”

Buskerfest has been held at Union Station annually since 2016, growing to attract more than 15,000 attendees each year.

The festival supports Arts Street, a nonprofit that provides real-world experience for Colorado students in the inner-city or who struggle in traditional schools, to help move them toward careers in the creative industries.

Buskerfest will kick off on Sept. 10 with performances by Pogo Fred, Cate Great and Just Felice.

Pogo Fred has earned 13 Guinness world records for extreme pogo sticking. Cate Great has performed circus skills and comedy internationally. And Just Felice is a street performer and magician most often found in Boston’s Faneuil Hall.

There is no admission fee for the festival, but performers do rely on tips.
