London Fashion Week begins this weekend and it's usual packed schedule of shows in locations across the city is back. The hottest tickets this season are Roksanda, Simone Rocha and Erdem.

London Fashion Week dates back to 1983 and has established itself as part of the 'Big Four' fashion capitals, sitting alongside New York, Milan and Paris Fashion Week. If New York is known for slick, wearable clothes, Milan for its high-octane glamour and Paris as the home of haute couture, then London is all about avant-garde creativity.

Here, we look back at London Fashion Week over the years, from royals on the front row to Naomi Campbell's famous fall...

1984

Ossie Clark was at the forefront of British fashion in the '60s and '70s, working with the likes of David Hockney and Bianca Jagger. In 1984, he showed as part of the newly launched London Fashion Week. In the 1990s, he trained Bella Freud and worked with dress label Ghost.
