Firefighters Save Family Dog From House Fire In Winter Haven

A family dog was rescued and treated by fire medics following a house fire Friday in Winter Haven.

WINTER HAVEN, FL — A family dog was rescued and treated by fire medics following a house fire Friday in Winter Haven.

Firefighters from the Winter Haven Fire Department and Polk County Fire Rescue were called to 1516 Lake Howard Drive at 4:40 p.m. to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the house.

The residents were able to escape but the family dog was trapped inside the home.

Firefighters rescued the dog and medics provided treatment until transportation was available to an emergency animal hospital.

There were no other injuries.

The fire appears to have started in one of the bedrooms. The cause is under investigation.
