West Virginia records 102nd death from the coronavirus

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A 102nd West Virginia has died from the coronavirus pandemic.

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources on Wednesday confirmed the death of a 79-year-old male from Fayette County.

Health officials have confirmed 5,461 cases of the coronavirus, in which 1,594 cases are active.

Seventy-eight West Virginians remain hospitalized, and 33 people are in the intensive care unit.

The number of West Virginians on ventilators remains at 16.

The daily rate of positive cases is 2.48% compared to the cumulative rate of 2.21%
