KANE COUNTY, IL — Drivers should expect more delays along Randall Road starting this week as a road widening project gets underway in Batavia. The Kane County Division of Transportation will begin work to extend the existing box culvert over the tributary to Mill Creek under Randall Road between Mill Street and Fabyan Parkway starting the week of Monday, Aug. 19.

This project will include widening Randall Road to provide full width shoulders on either side of the road. Construction hours will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day for about three months.

Randall Road will remain open in both directions during construction, but may be reduced to one lane of travel, with temporary daily lane closures at periods during the roadwork, according to the news release.

DOT officials said drivers should be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert. Motorists should also expect long delays while traveling through the work areas and should plan to add additional time to their commutes and consider the use of alternate routes while this work is being completed, according to the DOT.

In a news release, Kane County DOT officials noted that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone and reminded drivers to stay off their phones while traveling through the construction zone on Randall.
