$75,000 In Jewelry Stolen From Oswego Kohl's Store

Police said the heist happened early Monday morning. Several other local businesses have also been hit by theft.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police are investigating a reported burglary at the Oswego Kohl's store, 2500 Route 34. Police said the thief or thieves made off with $75,000 worth of jewelry during the incident, which reportedly occurred when the store was closed at around 6:30 a.m. Monday.

The incident would have happened about two and a half hours before the store opened. The Oswego Kohl's is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Asked about whether surveillance footage exists of the suspect or suspects, Oswego police told Patch they do not have any additional information to release on the incident.

The incident isn't the only recent business burglary or theft in Oswego. In late July, a 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with five overnight smash & grab burglaries that happened a month earlier.

Another theft from a business occurred at later in the day Monday when a man and woman entered Oswego Food & Liquor, 4574 Route 71, stole six bottles of alcohol and fled the scene, police said. Police said the offenders were both white and estimated to be around 40 years old. The man wore a pink jacket and dark pants, according to a police report, and the woman wore a black and white sweatsuit. The loss to the store was estimated at under $300.

On Sunday, a man and woman walked into BJ's Wine & Spirits, 1154 Douglas Road, at around 5:18 p.m. and stole alcohol. They fled the store and were last seen heading north on Douglas Road in a white Nissan Altima, police said. That theft was also estimated to be under $300.
