The Smyrna mother of two who went missing two weeks ago has been located and is in good health, Cobb police said Tuesday afternoon, though they would not say where the woman went.
Valerie Maynard, 53, was reported missing by her family on Sept. 5.
She was last seen on Labor Day, and her white Land Rover was discovered two days later at the Pigeon Hill parking area along Burnt Hickory Road. The vehicle was unlocked with Maynard’s purse and cellphone still inside.
Investigators said last week they did not suspect foul play in what they referred to as an odd disappearance. On Tuesday, police refused to say where she was, citing privacy concerns.
After Maynard was reported missing, a Cobb Sheriff’s Office K-9 was brought in to help locate the woman and park rangers at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park combed the woods for any sign of the former flight attendant.
Maynard’s brother, Charles Becknell Jr., said last week that his sister faced challenges just like most people, and that his family’s main concern was getting her home safely.
While she was missing, several of Maynard’s friends reached out on her Facebook account, pleading with her to call and let them know if she is OK.
Maynard’s young daughters stayed with their father while their mother was missing, according to Becknell.
