Pugs will be the guests of honor at Pugfest in PA 2021, on Sept. 25 in Derry Township.

Ach, du lieber!

Don your lederhosen or dirndl and head to Oktoberfest, taking place 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Murrysville Volunteer Fire Company Pavilion, 3235 Sardis Road.

The family-friendly event will feature German-style food and music, along with libations from local breweries and wineries. A costume contest for those lederhosen and dirndl wearers will be part of the festivities.

A $10 admission fee for adults will benefit local charities.

Hosts are Murrysville Recreation Department and Murrysville-Export Rotary Club.

Rock out

Classic rock lovers are in luck this weekend, with three shows to choose from at The Lamp Theatre in Irwin. The lineup includes:

• Hollywood Nights: The Bob Seger Experience, 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets: $35.

• SoulShine: An Allman Brothers Experience, 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets: $30.

• The Outlaws, with The Outcrops, 8 p.m. Sunday. A ticket is $59.

The Lamp Theatre in Irwin will host three classic rock acts this weekend.

Precious pugs

Lovers of those wrinkly, curly-tailed, short-snouted pooches known as pugs will gather from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 138 Kingston Club Road, Derry Township.

Pugfest in PA 2021 will feature food vendors, a bake sale, dog-oriented vendors and crafters, contests for pugs and pug-wannabes, a group costume contest and a basket raffle.

Attendees also can bring spare change for “Pennies for PUGS,” with a prize going to the person donating the heaviest amount of change.

Event organizers are Guardian Angels Pug Rescue, Patti Levay and Jennifer Haney.

Simple pleasures

“Simple Pleasures: The Art of Doris Lee” opens Sunday at The Westmore­land Museum of American Art in Greensburg.

The exhibition features the work of one of the most recognized American artists during the 1930s and ’40s and a leading figure in the Woodstock Artist’s Colony. Lee was known for her Depression-era murals and depictions of everyday life.

Included are 77 of the artist’s most notable works from the 1930s through the 1960s from both public and private collections, comprising paintings, drawings, prints and commissioned commercial designs in fabric and pottery.

The exhibition runs through Jan. 9 and then will travel to three additional venues across the country.

Sunday hours at the museum are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Advance online registration is recommended for visitors.

Parking lot party

Greensburg Craft Beer Week wraps up with a party from 2-6 p.m. Sunday in the Wib Albright Parking Lot, behind Green Beacon Gallery at 235 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg.

Quinn Brewing Co. will be on site, along with Cilantro & Ajo, Hoshi and Big Black Grill food trucks. The event also will feature an outdoor bar courtesy of Hugo’s Taproom, live music and yard games.
