Codemasters, the original developer of the Micro Machines games, has announced spiritual successor Toybox Turbos for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

The top-down arcade racer features 18 courses set across a number of household and school locations, from kitchen tables, science labs and railway sets.

Multiplayer is available for four people locally and online, and vehicles range from sports cars to a more comical array of ice cream vans, construction vehicles and milk floats.

Meanwhile, power-ups will feature prominently in competition, with mines, machine guns and the return of giant hammers.

Retro Corner: Micro Machines V3

Toybox Turbos will be available from November 12 for £11.99.

Based on the toys of the same name, Micro Machines debuting in 1991 on consoles and computers, and saw several sequels, including the 3D Micro Machines V3 on PlayStation, PC and N64.

Codemasters also released Micro Maniacs, a pin-off featuring running heroes instead of cars, on PlayStation in 2000.
