Sen. Rubio holds discussion on coronavirus in West Palm Beach
Friday afternoon, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) will hold a discussion on the coronavirus at the Palm Beach County Florida Department of Health on Clematis Street. Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez will be in attendance.During the discussion, Rubio will provide an update on federal actions being taken against COVID-19. Rubio will also review with Florida and Palm Beach County officials how local governments can best prepare and respond to coronavirus.On Thursday, Rubio, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship and a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, commended the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2020.The act includes over $27 million in funding for Florida along with additional funds designated to aid small businesses facing economic losses due to the coronavirus.“I look forward to Congress’ swift passage of this package and, moving forward, believe we need much bolder policy tools to support affected businesses and to address how we can reduce our dependence on China in critical sectors of our economy,” Rubio said.Those invited to participate in Friday's roundtable include: Dr. Alina Alonso, M.D., Director, Florida Department of Health, Palm Beach CountyMelissa McKinlay, Palm Beach County CommissionerVerdenia Baker, Administrator of Palm Beach CountyNancy Bolton, Assistant County Administrator of Palm Beach CountyTodd Bonlarron, Assistant County Administrator of Palm Beach CountyBill Johnson, RN, Director, Division of Emergency Management, Palm Beach CountyLisa De La Rionda, Director, Palm Beach CountyLaura Beebe, Director of Airports, Palm Beach County Department of AirportsManuel Almira, Executive Director, Port of Palm BeachGlenn Jergenson, Director, Tourism Development Council, Palm Beach County
