Jose Pekerman's Colombia side began their final preparations for the Copa America in Chile this summer with a 6-0 demolition of Bahrain as Falcao scored twice to rid fears of his poor form continuing.

Colombia's attacking onslaught on the Bahrain box began early on with Falcao, Bacca and Cuadrado bombarding the defence as they moved swiftly throughout the pitch, looking to get on the end of one of Carlos Sanchez's piercing passes through midfield from his defensive midfield position.

It was Bacca who took advantage of one of the numerous chances first, as the first quarter of an hour came to a close. Radamel Falcao, looking to improve his form after a poor season at Manchester United, headed down a beautifully chipped ball from Quintero into Bacca's feet. The Sevilla forward took one touch before sending a rocket into the back of the net, giving no chance for the stranded Sayed Jafaar in the Bahrain net.

Radamel Falcao got his own name on the score sheet with another fantastic ball chipped over the open Bahrain defence by Abel Aguilar. The striker, on loan at Manchester United, took the ball down in his stride before curling it away from the goal but just inside the right post, once more giving little chance of Jafaar.

An opportunity to secure a quick-fire double for Falcao arose in the 36th minute, the 29-year-old with a finish more like his Atletico Madrid days than his United days. Having assisted Bacca for the first goal, he was returning the favour with a perfectly weighted ball in between him and the defender with only one winner in sight. Falcao pounced on the chance, taking his time carefully before feigning a shot and chipping a Jafaar, already on the floor having fallen for the captain's trick.

Adrian Ramos and Fredy Guarin both showed the gulf in quality with two wonderful runs through the Bahrain defence, dropping to the floor in hope of snatching the ball off the two half-time subsitutes. Yet as Guarin stormed through, he poked the ball into Ramos' path as he knocked it past his marker and coolly slotted it in to the right bottom corner.

David Opsina, starting ahead of Camilo Vargas, had little to do but his searching balls up to the quick Cuadrado and Bacca caused trouble for the stretched Bahrain defence.

Johan Mojica, on in the 63rd minute, took Colombia to five with a lovely team goal from Pekerman's side. Cuadrado played in Renteria, who selflessly crossed the ball across the face of the goal into the on running Mojica's path for him to finish into an almost empty net.

The combination of Renteria and Mojica from the substitutes bench combined once more as Mojica chipped a delightful ball for Renteria to blast past Al Doseri, on for Jafaar at 68 minutes, and make the message Colombia have sent the rest of South America ahead of the Copa America even stronger.

Fredy Guarin made Hamad Al Doseri work once more as he struck a free-kick hard into the hands of the Bahrain keeper, failing to extend Colombia's ever rising, ever impressive lead.

Rashed Al Hooti almost secured a consolation goal for the reds but Opsina, called into action for one of the first times, dealt with it comfortably.

The main action of the night for Bahrain arrived as three or four pitch invades surprised stewards enough to reach the pitch and mingle with the star-studded Colombia side.

Yet although they said hello briefly to Ospina and Franco, they didn't see their team challenge Los Cafeteros at all. Pekerman's side simply demolished a lower class of opposition with classy goals in the first-half being followed up in the second half, with three more goals of quality ripping a very open Bahrain defence apart.

Despite the level of the opposition not matching that of Tricolor, the Colombians have shown the level their fellow South Americans will need to match if they are going to stop them going to Chile in June and coming away victorious with the Copa America trophy.
