Just because you’re not a kid doesn’t mean there’s not a play structure for you in Seattle’s parks. In many parks—often right next to the standard playground—there’s some standalone fitness equipment so adults can work some energy off, too.
To be clear, we’re not just talking about the standard playfield running track—although there’s nothing too elaborate here, either. Most have things like pull-up and parallel bars. An elliptical, weight stack, or rowing machine can be found here and there, too. They’re designed to withstand the outdoors, so they’re not exactly what you’d find in a Gold’s—but they’re a little bit more like playground equipment, which is totally more fun, right?
Better yet, these pockets of gym let you get outside. Which might not be the best in the scorching heat or the pouring rain, but feels wonderful when the weather’s nice.
We found 15 of these parks, mapped here from north to south.
