17 mobile post offices open in W.Va. after severe flooding
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSAZ) -- US Rep. Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) is urging the United States Postal Service to make sure flooded post offices in West Virginia are reopened.
In a letter to the Postmaster General Megan Brennan, Jenkins said reopening the post offices will be a moral boost to communities and show a commitment to rebuilding in the state.
“I have seen firsthand how these floods have battered these counties, including the severe damage done to the post office in Charmco in Greenbrier County. It is vital that post offices like Charmco be reopened so citizens can be connected with the outside community. These post offices are essential to helping our people get back on their feet and recover from the aftermath of these tragic storms,” Rep. Jenkins wrote.
17 mobile postal locations have been opened at locations that were closed due to flooding.
