2nd 'potentially armed' suspect in custody after search in Canton
JOSH: THE SUSPECT LEFT THE CAR RIGHT OVER IN THAT DRIVEWAY ACROSS THE STREET AFTER A POLICE PURSUIT THAT BEGAN IN BOSTON HERE IS THE MOMENT CANTON POLICE QUESTIONED AND LATER ARRESTED 29-YEAR-OLD JAUMELL CLAYTON. THIS IS ON RANDOLPH STREET AND POLICE SAY THEY SPOTTED CLAYTON WALKING ALONG THE ROAD AFTER HE GOT OUT OF A CAR WHICH WAS LEFT IN A DRIVEWAY ON RT. 138 ABOUT A HALF MILE AWAY. THAT PROMPTED EVERYONE IN THE AREA TO SHELTER IN PLACE AND MASSIVE POLICE SEARCH. BEFORE ALL OF THAT, CLAYTON AND ANOTHER MAN ALLEGEDLY WERE IN A CAR WANTED BY BOSTON POLICE AROUND 10:30 THIS MORNING. THAT FORD EDGE WAS SPOTTED ALONG 93 FOLLOWED BY STATE POLICE WHO SAY THE DRIVER POINTED A HANDGUN AT TROOPERS. A WITNESS DESCRIBES THE ARRE OF THE SECOND MAN OUTSIDE HIS HOME. >> FIRST WE SAW A LOT OF COP GOING BACK AND FORTH. AND THIS GENTLEMAN WAS WALKING ON THE STREET. THEY PULLED IN THE DRIVEWAY RIGHT HERE AND THEY QUESTIONED HIM. I SAW THEM QUESTION HIM FOR LIKE 5-10 MINUTES BEFORE THEY HANDCUFFED HIM. JOSH: POLICE SEARCHED THE WOODS OFF RT 138 WITH DOGS FOR WELL OVER AN HOUR. THEN, THEY FOCUSED THEIR ATTENTION ON A TRASH TRUCK THAT WAS PARKED AT AN AUTO BODY SHOP BETWEEN WHERE CLAYTON ALLEGEDLY LEFT THE CAR AND WHERE HE WAS ARRE

A second "potentially armed” suspect is in custody after a search following a motor vehicle pursuit ended in Canton, state police said.State police, K9, Air Wing, Boston police and other agencies searched near Ponkapoag Golf Course in Canton for a suspect who fled a motor vehicle following a pursuit, state police said. Shortly after 10:30 a.m., a Massachusetts State Trooper spotted a vehicle wanted by Boston police traveling on Interstate 93 north in Braintree.One of two men inside the silver Ford Edge had been reported to have displayed a handgun during an earlier encounter with Boston police, state police said. One of the men in the vehicle was located and arrested by Boston police after he had exited the vehicle, prior to the trooper seeing the vehicle, state police said. The SUV exited I-93 north at Exit 5A onto Route 28 in Randolph, state police said. The trooper and other units lost sight of the vehicle on Route 138 at Randolph Street in Canton before spotting it again a short time later on Reed Street, state police said. At some point while the trooper was following the suspect vehicle, the driver pointed a handgun at the trooper, state police said. The vehicle pulled into a residential driveway on Turnpike Street and the man fled on foot, state police said. A short time later, Canton police officers saw the man walking in the area and took him into custody. The man, identified as Jaumell L. Clayton, 29, was transferred to custody of Boston police, who will seek charges against both men.
