Deadline approaches to apply for Douglas County Board vacancy

Residents of midtown, downtown and South Omaha hoping to serve on the Douglas County Board of Commissioners have until 4:30 p.m. on October 4th to submit their application for the open seat.
Douglas County Clerk/Comptroller Dan Esch, Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing and Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine will review applicants and choose someone to fill the seat left vacant by the death of commissioner Mike Boyle.
Boyle died September 13th.
Nebraska state law requires the clerk/comptroller, treasurer and county attorney to fill the vacancy.
Requirements:
- Must be a registered voter
- Must be a resident of Douglas County Board District 1 for 6 months
District 1 includes midtown and downtown Omaha, from approximately 42nd Street east to the Missouri River, and south from around Douglas Street to the Douglas/Sarpy county line.
Applicants must submit a letter with resume and the address of their residence. All information will be made public.

Applications and resumes will be reviewed by Esch, Ewing and Kleine before personal interviews take place. One or more public meetings will be held prior to the appointment, which is expected by October 28th.
