We came across a poem Barbara had prepared which was found following her death;

Poem – She was born to loving parents, she loved and loved family, friends, colleagues, students, pets, travel and life long learning and sharing. Here’s hoping her life was enough for flight up and not a drop down!

Barbara “Babs” A. Rousseau, 82, a longtime resident of Merrimack, died suddenly at her home, Saturday, March 20, 2021.

Barbara was born in Franklin, New Hampshire, December 5, 1938, daughter of the late George O. Rousseau Sr and Florence (Hueber) Rousseau. She grew up in Franklin and attended the former St. Mary Catholic Elementary School. She was a graduate of Franklin High School. In 1960 she was office manager at Camp Bernadette, NH. She went on to continue her education and received her Master’s Degree of Occupational Education at the University of New Hampshire in Durham in 1976. Her work history after college includes, Board of Education PSC (Plymouth State College) in 1960,— Marlborough High School Teacher,–Newfield High School, –Selden NY, teacher,– Grad courses PSC (Plymouth State College),– NH Hospital, Walker Building Attendant– Hesser College, Teacher, –NHVTC (NH Vocational Technical College) Nashua, Teacher,—- Milford High School, NH, bus department Division Intern, –NH Department of Education, VOC– Education Division Intern, –NH Education Voucher Study of Planning Project,– Assistant and Director,University of NH Masters Program completed,— NHVTC, Nashua, cooperative education coordinator–.NHVTC Dean of Instructors,– NH Technical Institute Dean of Instructors,– New England Poll/footer tracking, Secretary of State–, Milford High School, Milford NH Vocational Director ,– Keene State College Staff Development, VOC Education Program Director,– Franklin Pierce Teacher Educator and a NH Department of Education Consultant.

Keene State College Department of Education–Alt IV, Teacher Certificate Program Coordinator, following her retirement.

She enjoyed traveling with her sister Sandra and friends to places of interest in the United States, Canada and Europe. She was involved with EBA, PDK, VE associations and Boards, including many workshops and recipient of numerous/ Awards.

She was predeceased by a sister, Sandra I. Rousseau in 2016.

Barbara leaves a brother, George “Skip” O. Rousseau of Gainesville, Florida; her beloved dachshund, Harley, was her constant companion and protector since 2010.

And generational cousins and many friendships made over the years.

A graveside service with Catholic Blessing, was held on Thursday, April 15,2021 at 2:00 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, Webster Lake Road, Route 11 in West Franklin, New Hampshire.

Those wishing may make memorial contributions in Barbara’s name to St. Paul Church of St. Gabriel Parish, 108 School Street or the Franklin Animal Shelter P. O. Box 265 Franklin, NH 03235.
