Drought Conditions Expand Across Portions Of Central Alabama
Although lower temperatures are expected for the next few days, no rainfall is in the forecast.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Although Alabamians over the next few days are getting some minor relief from the recent heat wave, the state is still experiencing dry conditions. The latest U.S. Drought Monitor indicates that severe drought conditions are persisting across the central portion of the state.
According to the National Weather Service, moderate drought conditions have expanded, now encompassing portions of Shelby, Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Cleburne, Chilton, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Elmore, Montgomery and Macon counties. Abnormally dry conditions remain roughly along and east of a line from Piedmont to Odenville to Birmingham to Vance to Centreville to Suttle to Gordonville to Pine Level to Clio.
Mostly dry conditions are expected to persist through the next ten days with above normal temperatures forecast across the entire Birmingham metro area. Very low rain chances, if any, are in the forecast over the next seven days.

The dry weather and severe heat prompted prompted the Alabama Forestry Commission Monday to issue a Fire Danger Advisory for all 67 Alabama counties. In the last 30 days, AFC wildland firefighters have battled 192 wildfires burning approximately 2,221 acres of land across the state.
