A man was taken into custody following a shots fired incident early Friday morning in Ferndale Borough.

Ferndale Police Chief John Blake tells 6 News that officers were called to the 1000 block of Louisa Place around 12:30 a.m. to respond to reports of shots fired.

Blake says officers determined an intoxicated 26-year-old man had fired a shotgun into a wall inside a home.

Blake says the man has mental health issues and was taken into custody so he couldn’t hurt himself or others.

Ferndale police are working with the Cambria County District Attorney’s Office on charges related to the case.

Officers from Ferndale, Stonycreek, East Conemaugh, West Hills, Upper Yoder and Johnstown responded.
