Bahraini Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of 28 individuals, including those convicted in absentia with terrorism-related charges and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Some of the arrested had been charged in more than one case involving planning and execution of terrorist acts to destabilize national security, a ministry statement said last night.

The preemptive security operation contributed in thwarting many terrorist schemes planned in various villages and included the tracking of individuals and monitoring safe houses by a specially-trained surveillance team, added the statement.
