Carson City's annual St. Teresa Crab Feed reimagined to feature all the trimmings, at-home party kits, auction

CARSON CITY — Tickets are available now for at-home crab feed party kits to benefit St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School as part of the school’s crab feed fundraiser to be held Saturday, March 6.

This year’s 18th annual crab feed has been reimagined as an at-home event, with drive-through pick-up of gourmet crab meal kits for guests to enjoy from the comfort and safety of home.

Meal packages include crab, corn, potatoes, sausage, salad and garlic bread, as well as crab mallets, bibs, cookies, sangria mix, custom wine glasses and bottle openers.

The prepared meal, catered by Liberty Events and Catering, is ready to eat and enjoy at home. A crab boil dinner for two is available for $150, and a crab dinner for six is $420. Delivery service is also available for an additional charge.

Tickets are available through Sunday, Feb. 28 at www.CrabFeed2021.givesmart.com

Additional event information is available at STTSCrabFeed2021@gmail.com. The meals will be available for drive through pick up at the school parking lot Saturday, March 6 at pre-assigned times between 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A virtual auction and evening of on-line celebration will also be available to ticket holders. Ticket holders will have the opportunity to virtually bid on auction items from home. Raffle tickets are also available for a two-night stay at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort and other summer vacation prizes. Once registered, ticket holders will start receiving updates via e-mail or text about the virtual programming and auction items.

Sponsorships and donations are also available to support the school.

Every dollar raised provides for capital improvements, classroom modernizations and defrays tuition costs for St. Teresa students. Founded in 1957, St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School has established a reputation for exceptional education in a faith-based community environment which encourages involvement, learning and confidence. The parish school is located in Carson City on Richmond Avenue and is part of the St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community. School information is available at stts.org.

Carson City 4-H is holding its 4th annual Pajama Drive For Kids in Foster Care. We are collecting new pajamas in all sizes and styles for the CASA of Carson City Foster Kids’ Closet to be distributed to local children. Larger children's and adult sizes for teens are especially needed.

UPDATE: A motorist injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Highway 50 East near Flint Road was flown by Care Flight to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno. A second injured person was taken by ground ambulance. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

An injured dog was also transported via a sheriff's deputy to an animal control officer where the dog was taken to a vet for treatment. The condition of the dog is unknown at this time.

The crash has caused traffic delays on Highway 50 East. Motorists can expect delays. The cause is under investigation. We will update when more information becomes available.
