Waco Police, MCSO investigating bomb threat at Ascension Providence Hospital

WACO, TX — Waco Police and the McLennan County Sheriff's Office are investigating after Ascension Providence Hospital received a bomb threat Tuesday.

The hospital confirmed they received a threat and police are on scene investigating.

Sheriff Parnell McNamara says it was a bomb threat and his deputies are currently on scene assisting with their bomb squad.

Parts of the hospital have been evacuated, according to McNamara. Waco PD are leading the investigation.

Ascension Providence provided the following statement:

This afternoon, Ascension Providence received an anonymous bomb threat, and immediately notified the Waco Police Department and took precautionary measures to ensure patients, visitors and associates were safe.

The police department remains onsite and has identified no immediate threat. We continue to monitor the situation. Our highest priority remains the safety of our patients, visitors, associates and physicians.
