CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man wanted by the Corpus Christi Police Department for sexual abuse of a child barricaded himself inside a hotel room Thursday night for more than three hours.
Officers say Johnny Wiley, 36, was wanted on a felony warrant for child sexual abuse and indecent proposals to a child under 16.
Officers were called to the Budget Inn Motel on Shoreline just after 9 p.m. for a report of a wanted person there. Officers said Wiley refused to leave his room when they arrived.
Investigators believed at one point Wiley had a weapon, which led to the three-hour standoff.
Wiley surrendered to police just after midnight and was taken into custody.
No one was injured. His bond has been set at $800 thousand.
