Zain Bahrain hosts region’s largest mobile competition

Zain Bahrain, the most innovative telecom provider in the Kingdom, is hosting the region’s largest competition ‘The Arab Mobile Challenge’ (AMC) in the Kingdom of Bahrain as part of its commitment to the local entrepreneurial eco-system. 

The ‘Arab Mobile Challenge’ is the largest platform of its kind in the region, focused on hosting young, innovative minds from across the region to showcase their unique thinking. The challenge is allows people who have great ideas translate into viable apps. Finalists’ teams will be winning financial prizes and some will be invited to compete in the Global Mobile App Competition.

“Zain Bahrain is keen on boosting local talent in a program of this kind with access and exposure at a regional and global level,” said Samya Hussain, Corporate Communications Manager of Zain Bahrain. “As the host country, Zain is encouraging Bahraini participation and inclusion with the rest of the region.” she added.

In the 2015 Global Mobile Challenge held in Barcelona, the winning team, judged by an international panel and competed with international teams, was a Tunisian team of young people who developed a game that was undeniably unique and brilliant, crowning them the winners and showcasing the capability of the Arab world globally. A graduate of the Arab Mobile Challenge, the winning team were given the opportunity to step up to a global platform, receiving the deserved acknowledgment. 

“Having winners from the Arab world is proof that local talent is on par with youth all over the world. We need to facilitate local talent by supporting them and encouraging them to take part in competitions such as these where their capabilities are highlighted.” said Samya Hussain from Zain Bahrain.

This year the Arab Mobile Challenge is introducing two tracks this year: one for ideas and one for early stage start-ups. The challenge is not only open for people with technical skills, but also for people with great ideas that can translate into viable solutions.

The AMC 2015 will run a one day bootcamp in different countries, including the Kingdom of Bahrain for the first time. Through a simple registration process on www.arabmobilechallenge.com, teams will be receiving updated information on physical events for them to attend.

Finalist teams will be invited to Regional Finals in January 2016. Winners are eligible for either financial prizes or the opportunity for a fully paid invitation to compete at the Global Mobile Challenge in Barcelona, hosted by the Mobile World Congress. The opportunity to be part of the world’s largest mobile event is a once in a lifetime for many, and presents many benefits for a start up in this space – from access to a global network, to exposure to success stories and potential partners.
