NEW YORK — While Gov. Andrew Cuomo may have given up his daily coronavirus briefings after "111 days of hell," he hasn't stopped offering updates on the status of the outbreak.

"The COVID-19 pandemic isn't over, and as we reopen New York safely and incrementally, the state government will continue to provide timely information so that New Yorkers can make educated decisions for themselves and their families," Cuomo said in a news release Sunday. "Yesterday, less than 1 percent of COVID-19 tests conducted in the state were positive, which means we continue to be on the right path toward defeating the virus."

He offered data about the continuing COVID-19 cases statewide:

Earlier, Cuomo was a guest on CBS Sunday Morning and discussed New York's response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"You have a political jujitsu, you and a handful of other governors asked people to do hard things and got more popular," said Jane Pauley.

"Go figure," Cuomo replied.

"And you know where we are now? Dow Jones tumbles again, fear of second wave," Cuomo told Pauley. "That's what happens when you reopen and you don't do it intelligently, you do it politically."
