LAGRANGE, Ind. – DutchCrafters, an online retailer specializing in Amish-made furniture, is starting to handle some of its own deliveries through an in-house shipping team based out of its warehouse here.

The company has previously relied primarily on contract shippers and carriers such as UPS and FedEx to ship its products throughout the U.S. Starting in July, the LaGrange team began delivering to customers in parts of Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

It plans to continue these deliveries weekly in its own truck as it continues to evaluate the cost effectiveness and customer experience of the in-house delivery model. Based on the results, it may decide to expand the service in the future.

The company opened its warehouse in LaGrange in January and recently promoted Kari-Jo Koshes to showroom and fulfillment manager. Koshes was previously customer experience team assistant manager.

“Our own delivery team will give the personalized care that our customers deserve and provide the quality assurance necessary to ensure our furniture arrives safely to its new home,” Koshes said.

The company recently made its first delivery to a customer in Findlay, Ohio, and marked the occasion by reducing the shipping charges and presenting the customer with a bag of DutchCrafters-branded gifts.

“To be able to ship our heirloom Amish furniture with our own DutchCrafters truck and delivery team is a dream finally realized,” said Linse Miller, co-founder. “It brings us great joy to see our customers’ happy faces when they see their handcrafted Amish furniture for the first time.”
