Conservation officers were busy responding to calls from hikers in distress across the North Country this weekend.
On Saturday, 911 dispatchers received a call around 6 p.m. from two lost hikers in the vicinity of Mt. Percival in Holderness.
According to a report from New Hampshire Fish and Game, two Massachusetts women identified as Sophie Yang, 28, of Brockton and Wendy Lee, 29, of Boston were hiking the Mt. Percival trail on Saturday, reached the top of the mountain, then went off trail while descending.
The pair called 911 for assistance, and a conservation officer hiked in and located them at 9:38 p.m. They were escorted back to their vehicle at the Mt. Percival parking area.
Also on Saturday, just before 2 p.m. conservation officers were notified a hiker was injured on the South Moat Trail in Albany. The hike, identified as Ernestine Greenslade, 62 of Portsmouth, was hiking with a group of six family members and friends when lost her footing while descending and fell, injuring her ankle.
Greenslade was unable to bear weight on her ankle, and a member or her group called 911 for help.
Rescuers located Greenslade a little over two miles from the trailhead. They treated her and placed her in a litter, then carried her out and arrived back at the trailhead shortly after 8 p.m. She was transported from the scene by the Conway Ambulance to Memorial Hospital for treatment.
