A friend is driving to Okemo, staying there Friday/Saturday night before making a drive north to Post Mills VT for camp visit. I tried to search previous threads but given I know very little about VT it was hard for me to picture or figure things that may be on the way or easy detours. If willing to make a detour for quality beer, are there any beweries worth a visit? Thank you very much in advance!

River Roost in White River Junction is right off 91. Very small brewery doing some very good hoppy beers--they only have 3, I believe at most, beers on at one time. Across the parking lot is the Crowler Pit at Big Fatty's. Small shop but at least a dozen beers on for crowler fills and a good bottle/can selection.

The beverage store in Okemo near the supermarket has a pretty good selection of beers, and generally has backacre on the shelves. I would definitely suggest he get at least a bottle if its available.

What is his planned route? Is he coming up 91 or coming from the west? With either of these routes he will not go by River Roost unfortunately. There is a store in downtown Ludlow called Brewfest Beverage which was mentioned above that has a good selection of VT brews (i was there last friday). I;d only get the backacre if you really like sours, but thats me and I don't so its not worth it. If he is coming from I-91, he'll likely get off at exit 6 in Rockingham and head up on VT 103 which takes him right by my favorite southern VT beer store called Meditrina in Chester VT. Great selection of VT and other brews, lots of IPA, sour, and darker choices.

It makes the most sense to go up 91 from Okemo to Post Mills, in which case he goes right through White River Junction. Thirded on Brewfest Beverage, though.

Looked at a map; think you guys (quint) are correct-- he has a choice from NY to Okemo but then is going up 91 from there, so River Roost should work, and thanks to all on the Beverage stores; seems like no real "brewery release cans" (it is a saturday) that are easy, but crowlers and/or these beverage stores should suffice. Thanks to all again, much appreciated!

Only problem is that river roost isn't open on sundays unfortunately. The crowler pit is though.
