NEWBURGH HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - One Newburgh Heights person is not happy with a company he paid to fix the gutters on his house.

Bernie Walters said Leaf Filter Gutter Protection did a "terrible" job on his home.

The retired veteran said about a month ago, he hired the company to do some work on his house.

The contract says the company was supposed to clean, seal and install internal hangers on the gutters with a lifetime, transferable warranty.

Workers came out and did work but Mr. Walters says his gutter situation is worse than before.

"While sitting on the porch, all of a sudden, water started cascading, like a wall of water started coming over the gutter into this corner," he said. "I called right away and made a claim on them, never got a call back. The longer this holds out, the worse my foundation is getting."

He says crews were there that day for only about two hours.

After Cleveland 19 News called Leaf Filter and spoke with a manager, they told us someone would contact Mr. Walters by the end of the day.

We checked the BBB's website and Leaf Filter has an A+ rating but also 28 Customer Complaints that were closed in the last 3 years.

Mr. Walters says he's worried about the thousands of dollars he paid to them to do the work.

"They did a financing for me for $5,800 for the work. It's a lot of money. I didn't have it, now I''m retired and on social security," he said.

He just wants Leaf Filter to stand by it's word.

"When I signed a contract, they were quick to come out but now that I need a repair, they're nowhere to be found and they're too busy," said Walters.

We have some good news to report: within an hour of our broadcast, Leaf Filter sent someone out to Mr. Walter's home and a manager admitted they did a terrible job.

The company is sending a crew to repair the work Friday and Mr. Walters says they are even giving him a little refund. A manager also told us they also plan to make a donation to the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity in Walter's name.
