Video Shows Wayne Jewelry Store Employees Stopping Robbery

A woman was arrested at Massola Jewelers and a man was later arrested at Newark Airport trying to board a plane to Florida, police said.

WAYNE, NJ — Video of the attempted robbery of Massola Jewelers in June shows the son of the store owner wrestling a shotgun away from one of the would-be robbers, according to a report on NorthJersey.com, which first ran the video Tuesday night.

The video was filmed on a security camera inside the store. Audio from the 911 call from one of the victims was included with the video.

The video shows the son of the store owner grabbing the shotgun away from one of the suspects, who ran out of the store as soon as they lost the gun, according to the report. The owners then wrestled the other suspect to the ground. (See Related: Pair Robbed Wayne Jewelry Store, Tried To Fly To Florida: Police)

Emily Lopazanski, 34, of Fords, and Marc Niedle, 30, of Mountainside, walked into Massola Jewelers on Preakness Avenue in June with a shotgun, Wayne Police previously reported.

Lopazanski allegedly sprayed mace in the owner's and his son's faces and they later struggled with her inside and outside of the store, police said after the robbery occurred. Police received a 911 call about the robbery at 11:15 a.m.; Lt. Robert Simpson was in the area and responded to the store to find Lopazanski struggling with the men.
