Inflation rates recorded in August across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states ranged from a low of 0.07 per cent in the Sultanate to a high of 4.94 per cent in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), versus trends registered during the same month in 2014, according to the latest figures issued by GCC-Stat.

The UAE topped the table with an inflation rate of 4.94 per cent, followed by Kuwait at 3.84 per cent, Saudi Arabia (KSA) at 2.1 per cent, Bahrain at 1.7 per cent, and Qatar at 1.2 per cent, and Oman, with a figure of 0.07 per cent, enjoyed the lowest inflation trend.

Prices of food and beverages in August 2015 rose in most of the GCC countries in comparison with trends recorded in August last year.

The jump was highest in Kuwait at 5.62 per cent, followed by Bahrain at 2.9 per cent, KSA at 2.1 per cent, Qatar at 1.9 per cent, and the UAE at 0.64 per cent. In contrast, prices fell in the Sultanate by 0.89 per cent, the report said.
