Didn’t get tickets to the Rams’ Hawaii game? Getting in now will be pricier

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Tickets to the highly-anticipated preseason game at Aloha Stadium between the Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys are sold out, stadium officials announced Friday morning.

The Cowboys-Rams game on Aug. 17 will be the first preseason NFL game in Hawaii since 1976.

And as soon as the tickets went on sale Thursday, starting at $30, residents were clamoring to snatch them up.

Now, the only option is to buy resale tickets ― at higher prices than what they were originally sold at. On the Ticketmaster site on Friday morning, the cheapest resale tickets to the game were $124.

The most expensive topped $3,000.

In a statement, Aloha Stadium officials said that while most of the tickets sold Thursday were purchased online, residents could also buy tickets at the box offic.

The stadium reported steady lines through 5 p.m.

“We did receive many calls throughout the day. We informed callers that this event was selling quickly and encouraged them to either come to the stadium right away or go online to make their purchase before tickets sold out,” the stadium authority said, in a statement.

How did the tickets sell out so fast? Some suspect bots were to blame.

Hulali Mohi and her family are die-hard Rams fans. She said when tickets went on sale Thursday morning, her dad snagged his right away.

“The same exact tickets that he paid $40 for, they were on sale for $600,” Mohi said.

Mohi said she had to settle for the section right above his ― and even those prices didn’t last.

“I bought my tickets for $70 but when my friend found out that I got my tickets, she asked me if I could get tickets for her and by the time I went back on, they were already $1,000."

Mohi said she went through this same scenario when Bruno Mars’ tickets skyrocketed last year.
