Iowa DPH says some COVID-19 data impacted by Monday storms
The Iowa Department of Public Health said Tuesday that Monday’s storms could impact coronavirus data published to the state’s website.According to a notification on the Iowa DPH website, some Iowans being treated at home or in long-term care facilities may have been transferred to hospitals or other facilities due to storm impacts.The notification said hospitalization and other data may fluctuate as a result.The Iowa DPH releases the latest coronavirus data in real time. KCCI provides a daily snapshot of the past 24 hours of statistics.As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Iowa DPH website reports 49,182 confirmed cases statewide since Iowa’s outbreak began. The DPH confirmed 182 additional COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.Iowa’s reported positivity rate is 9.4% compared to 7.7% Monday. Of the state’s confirmed cases, 37,982 Iowans recovered.The Iowa DPH reported four additional COVID-19 death for a statewide death toll of 935. The website said 649 of the state’s deaths involved Iowans with preexisting conditions.COVID-19 outbreaks at long-term care facilities account for 500 of the state’s total deaths.Iowa DPH reports 224 hospitalizations, of which 64 patients are in intensive care. The Iowa DPH said hospitals admitted 34 new COVID-19 patients in the past 24 hours compared to 26 on Monday.Polk County reports the most cases in the state, with 10,351 cases.According to the Iowa DPH, 42,199 Iowans received serology tests. Of those tested, 39,309 tested negative and 2,851 tested positive. The Iowa DPH website now features an analysis for public school districts with data on average county positivity rates over the past 14 days.
