NORTON, MA — A Taunton man was charged with attempting to steal wire from a vacant property on Bay Road on Friday afternoon. Daniel Richard, of Taunton, was taken into custody and charged with larceny from a building and breaking and entering.

Norton police said they responded early Friday afternoon to a nearby resident's report of a man on the property from the vacant, condemned building. Officer David Ruskey arrived and saw a vehicle backed up to the garage on the property, then watched the suspect attempt to remove rolls of wire fencing from the garage.

Norton police said that Richard was charged after a brief investigation. Patrolmen Joshua Archer, Charles Turcotte and Ruskey participated in the investigation.
