You can't put a price on good sleep. Whether it's $95 mattress, a $169 weighted blanket that celebrities rave about, or a $25 sleep mask, if you've got the budget for it, it's worth the investment. But in the case of the Lucid Lavender Memory Foam Mattress Topper, which rings in at $47.99, the price remains relevant for one reason: Buyers are screaming from the roof tops that it's "worth every penny." And I, myself, am one of them.

I bought the topper when I was moving into a new apartment last summer. I had a standard egg crate one before, but it was dingy, and I was over it. I searched and searched for the best foam topper out there when I finally came across this one. At first, I thought it was called lavender because of the color. To my pleasant surprise, it wasn't. The topper is actually scented lavender, and let me tell you, it smells f*cking amazing. I've never felt more relaxed than I did that first night with it on my bed. I felt like I was sleeping at a spa. On top of that, the rave reviews on Amazon were completely accurate.

Thousands of people who've reviewed it claim that they're having the best sleep of their life, all because of the Lucid topper. I've had it on my bed for over a year now, and it still feels incredible. Is it the best sleep of my life? No―I'm pretty sure the best sleep of my life came as a toddler. But it is the best sleep I've had in my 20's. Everyone who has slept in my bed agrees, and I'm constantly getting compliments about how comfy it is.

So, should you invest? My vote is hell yeah, but here are a few quick things to know before you buy your own:

The scent is strong.

A lot of Amazon reviews say that the lavender scent was "overpowering." Personally, I remember coming home from work the first day after putting it on my bed and my whole room smelling like lavender. Personally, I was not mad. My room smelled like a soothing spa. By the second or third day, though, I could only smell it when I was lying in my bed. If you're not into strong scents or anything too perfume-y, this could feel like a lot to you. If you are into your room smelling like an essential oil shop, I have some bad news.

It doesn't last forever.

Sadly, after a few weeks, I couldn't smell the lavender anymore. It's a little disappointing, but I didn't buy this mattress topper for the scent—that was just a bonus.

You don't have to wait the full 48 hours to let it puff up.

The instructions that come with the mattress topper say to wait at least 48 hours before sleeping on it, so the foam has time to rise once you've taken it out of the box. I definitely didn't wait that long; I waited about 2-4 hours before I slept on it the first night, and I never noticed a problem. Many reviews on Amazon say the same thing. Instructions? Who needs 'em!

It will add a little height to your bed.

Once it's fully expanded, the topper is 2 inches thick. It's not to big, and not too thin, but I have noticed that my fitted sheet slips up on my mattress more than it did before. You might want to size up your sheets so they're not too snug with the foam underneath. Or you could live recklessly, like me.
