Coronavirus: Mokena Mayor Shares Update On Village Services

The next board meeting is scheduled for April 13, and Fleischer said information will be shared soon on how the public can participate.

MOKENA, IL — In a video April 3, Mayor Frank Fleischer shared a village update with residents, and what impact the coronavirus has had on village operations.

"With limited exceptions, each of our departments has continued to operate, including the police department, the water, sewer and streets department, and the village hall; all of which are open," Fleischer said.

Garbage pick-up in Mokena is also operating on schedule.

"It is imperative that we work together, even if that means staying apart," Fleischer said.

The next village board meeting is scheduled for April 13, and Fleischer said information will be shared soon on how the public can participate in that meeting.

"The governor's executive order to stay home should be followed to the greatest extent possible by all," Fleischer said.

The village has not shared how many positive cases of coronavirus are in Mokena. According to the Will County Department of Health, there are 668 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the county, and 15 people have died.
