Shoolini University ties up with Taiwan institute



The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Shoolini University, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Graduate Institute of Natural Products, College of Medicine, Chang Gung University, Taiwan. Prof TL Hwang signed the MoU from Taiwan University and Vice Chancellor Prof PK Khosla signed it from the Shoolini University. Prof Khosla shared the research achievements and the university’s rankings across the globe, including those of seven faculty members who have been placed in the 2 per cent of global list of scientists released by Stanford University. Student exchange at undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD levels and opportunities for future research funding will be available under this memorandum. Faculties from both sides set their goals to perform research-related activities, drug discovery for diseases like osteoporosis, microbial infection, asthma etc.

Pen down strike by HPU staff

Responding to the call by the New Pension Scheme Employee Association, the HPU employees observed a pen down strike on Wednesday. NPSEA HPU president Khushal Chand alleged that the government was imposing the new pension scheme on employess, making them insecure. He alleged that the government was indifferent to the demands and concerns of the employees, and if it continued, the latter could get into an agitation mode. He said if ministers decided to give up their old pensions, they, too, would give up their demands.

Rajesh Sood is med teachers’ chief

Dr Rajesh Sood has been elected president of the State Association of Medical and Dental College Teachers of the IGMC in Shimla. All executive members of the association were elected unopposed.

Dr Ram Lal Sharma was elected vice-president, Dr Ghanshyam Verma general secretary, Dr Vinay Somya joint secretary, Dr Rajiv Sood social secretary, Dr Sudhir Sharma treasurer and Dr Divya Vashisht (Dental), Dr Arun Chauhan (Surgery) and Dr Yogesh Diwan (Anatomy) have been elected members.
